Clothes and Your Small Dog......

Let's face it, dressing up a small dog can be more about the owner than the dog, it shows off the design choices and fashion sense of the owner, but soon, the first time small dog owner comes to realize the benefits of clothing their extra small dog....smaller breeds of dog are very susceptible to cold weather. The tiny dog will often shiver perpetually because they just do not have the body mass to hold in the heat. So along with adorning the small dog with fashionable sweaters, coats, shirts and hats, there is a functionality added...keeping the small pup warm and instilling a feeling of security.

My personal view is that as long as you keep the dog clothes from being confining or awkward for your little precious to wear, most small dogs love getting dressed up now and again. A trip to the vet, or to visit family members on cold days will be much more enjoyable for your little nugget if they are dressed in a warm doggie outfit, and if you own a small/toy dog you very well know that these little darlings actually crave the attention their fashions bring them and honestly quite enjoy the whole process!

With the arrival of online shopping, the idea of clothing small dogs was taken to a level that all could enjoy and try out. Remember if your new to dressing your small dog, buy something cheap and try it out on her, if she really does NOT like the feel of the clothing, then do NOT force her to wear clothes...but more often than not the little pup will love being dressed!

Onto purchasing small dog fashions....some websites are ridiculously expensive and I would steer clear of these, odds are they are purchasing their items from the same manufacturers as affordable shops are. Don't be taken in! You can find very reasonably priced small dog clothes online, so do your research first and find an online shop that offers affordable dog clothing. The current movement in overdoing the dress of a small pet has certainly been awoken by celebs toting around their pets as arm candy, and as I've said earlier this a common reason for people adorning their pups but this should NOT be the only reason! First and foremost it should be the comfort and feeling of security that clothing gives a small pet!
